Summer Baseball

Summer workouts begin a 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.

First day of baseball practice is 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29.

Summer fee: $100 includes shirt, tournament fees, umpire fees, equipment and supplies.

Enrollment contracts must be on file at the Business Office.

Sports physicals must be on file with Coach Tuten.

Summer schedule will be given out on Wednesday.

Benedictine's Joe Tvrdy resigns as varsity soccer head coach

Benedictine Military School’s Joe Tvrdy has resigned as varsity soccer head coach to spend more time with his family, BC Athletics Director Danny Britt announced Thursday.

Tvrdy and his wife, Tess (the varsity soccer head coach at St. Vincent’s Academy), welcomed their second child, Joseph, who was born May 16, 2013. Tvrdy, BC’s Mathematics Department Chair, will remain at Benedictine Military School as a teacher. He also will continue as head coach of the Cadets’ varsity wrestling team.

“Joe is stepping away to spend more time with his family,” Britt said. “He will continue to coach wrestling and continue to teach at Benedictine. Joe’s done an incredible job with everything he’s done at BC. He did a great job developing the soccer program at Benedictine into one of the elite programs in the area. We will miss him as soccer coach but I’m glad we can keep him as wrestling coach and as a teacher.”

Benedictine Military School soccer teams won three region championships and advanced to the Georgia High School Association state playoffs in eight of Tvrdy’s 10 years at the helm. He guided the Cadets to three Elite Eight appearances, including this season.

“We don’t know at this time who will fill the void left by Joe but we are working on finding a replacement,” Britt said.

2013 Benedictine Sports Camp: All children ages 9 and older are invited to attend the Benedictine Sports Camp on the campus of Benedictine Military School at 6502 Seawright Drive. Participants will be instructed by the Benedictine coaching staff. Fundamentals will be stressed in all areas of instruction. Sports offered are football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer and wrestling. The use of films and videos will be available. The camp runs for two consecutive weeks: First week begins June 10, 9 a.m. until noon; Second week begins June 17, 9 a.m. until noon. Cost is $75 per week. Please make checks payable to Benedictine Sports Camp. Late registrations will be held each Monday before the start of camp from 8:30-9 a.m. in the gym lobby. 2013 Middle School Benedictine Football Camp: All children from 5th to 8th grade are invited to attend the Benedictine Football Camp on the campus of Benedictine Military School at 6502 Seawright Drive. Participants will be instructed by the Benedictine football coaching staff. Fundamentals will be stressed in all areas of instruction. The use of films and videos will be available. The camp will feature kicking coach Reed Haley, a former standout at Georgia Southern University. Camp will be conducted July 22-24 from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost is $75. Benedictine Military School's football coaching staff will provide top-level instruction for students who want to learn the BC way of playing the game. Individual attention will be given with an emphasis on teaching strong fundamentals encompassing areas such as throwing, catching, kicking, blocking and tackling. Campers will learn how to replicate BC's ways, including how the Cadets huddle, their play calling, their alignment on offense and defense, and basic play formation. 2013 BC Cheer Camp: Benedictine Cheer Camp is July 22-26 from 9 a.m. until noon. Camp fee: $120, includes camp T-shirt, spirit cup, spirit ribbon and entrance to the "Night Out With The BC Cheerleaders" pizza party. The camp is designed to teach cheers, chants, dances, simple gymnastics, jumps and spirit ideas. Camp is held on BC's campus at 6502 Seawright Drive. May 22, 2013 - BC Baseball's incredible season ends

Benedictine Military School's varsity baseball team lost, 9-2, to Lovett in Game 3 of the GHSA Class AA semifinals Wednesday at BC. The Cadets finished with a 30-6 record and their Final Four appearance was the second-greatest baseball season in school history behind the 1961 BC team that won the Class AAA state championship. The BC Family would like to congratulate head coach Kevin Farmer '92, his assistants and the players for representing BC in a classy manner. And thanks for allowing all of us to share in the experience. It was a tremendous run!!!

May 21, 2013 - BC Baseball beats Lovett in Game 2, forces Game 3 at 1 p.m. Wed. at BC!!!!

The winner of Game 3 will advance to the GHSA Class AA state championship series. Benedictine rallied from a 7-1 loss in Game 1 to win Game 2, 3-2. GO BC!!!!

May 20, 2013 - BC Baseball games moved to Tuesday at noon (DH)

Benedictine Military School's GHSA Class AA state semifinal baseball series against Lovett was delayed Monday from 2-4:20 p.m. because of lightning. The decision was made to play Games 1 & 2 at noon Tuesday at BC. Game 3, if necessary, will be played Wednesday at a time to be detemined.
